Spring Into Horticulture
The time to start planting your spring and early summer vegetable gardens is now! From starting tomato and pepper seeds indoors, to sewing carrots, beets and spinach in the ground outside, January and February are the months in which you can really get the jump on a healthy and productive spring garden. Josh will go over all of the types of vegetables that do well here in North Texas and will share with you some exciting new tomato varieties that we are growing here in the store this year as well as our favorite varieties of many other herbs and vegetables you can look forward to this year. Also, you will get some basic information on soil preparation and amendments to help you be as successful as possible.
Backyard Farming
Learn and discuss the varieties of vegetables and herbs that can be grown in the fall and winter here in North Texas. Learn about starting root vegetables from seed and transplanting vegetable seedlings. This class will get you prepared for creating your mini food farm.
Cactus and Succulents 101
Everybody seems to be in love with succulents these days and Redenta’s is THE place to go in Dallas for the biggest selection of varieties and most unique arrangements. However, taking care of the succulents once they leave the store can be tricky. We will tell you all about the different types of succulents and which ones work well indoors or outdoors, low light or full sun. You will also get a mini-tutorial on how to pot-up a succulent arrangement while watching Josh create one. The finished product will be given away to the lucky attendee whose name is drawn at the end of the class. Come in and learn what makes a cactus a cactus and why all cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti. Watering, light requirements, fertilization and propagation will all be covered in this comprehensive class.
Organic Gardening Hacks
Learn eco-friendly solutions to improve any garden are top tips, tricks, and solutions unearthed by Shawna Coronado. In this discussion she will help you discover clever ways to upcycle everyday items in your garden in order to save your pennies and save the environment. Each hack is natural or organic and super-easy to accomplish in the garden and will give you creative insight on how you can grow for very little money. Shawna will demonstrate each tip with full-color photos and tales from her creative and wacky home garden that is making a difference in her community and for her family.
